The public working build uses fictional information and does not create real bids or payments. Production access remains capability-gated until the pilot-readiness requirements are complete.
Before, during, and after the event
The auction does not have to begin when the doors open.
Before
Collect items and open bidding early.
Item collection can start weeks in advance. Bidding can open three to seven days before the event so supporters can participate before event night.
During
Everyone bids in the same auction.
People at the venue bid from their phones while remote supporters see the same items and current bids through the same public auction link.
After
Close cleanly and know who won.
Scheduled closing, winner tracking, and payment or pickup status keep the handoff from turning into a spreadsheet scramble. Automatic post-commit notifications remain a pilot-readiness item rather than a current public promise.
Item intake
Sellers and donors can submit. Organizers stay in control.
A verified participant can submit an item through the seller intake flow. Submission is intake, not publication. Nothing becomes a public auction lot until the organizer reviews and approves it.
Seller submits → Organizer reviews/approves → Item becomes an approved auction lot → Auction opens → Remote/in-person bidding → Auction closes → Winners generated
The current first-pilot intake is deliberately bounded. Verified participant identity is resolved by the system rather than accepted as an arbitrary donor/contact field.

Payments
Keep the payment process that already works.
An organization does not have to replace its existing payment process just to use the auction workflow. Payment integration can be scoped separately when it adds real value.
